Dr. Hood-Olson, DMD

Dr. Hood-Olson, DMD, specializes in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. She was raised in McLeansboro, IL, a small community in southern Illinois about 100 miles east of O’Fallon. She graduated valedictorian of her high school. Then, she attended Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville, where she was awarded the Chancellor Scholarship. In addition, she received one of two positions for early acceptance into the School of Dental Medicine.

Upon graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree, Dr. Lauren was recognized with the highest overall GPA for the department of science. She went on to complete her doctorate of dental medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL. She again graduated summa cum laude—the only doctor in her class to earn that honor.

After graduating dental school, Dr. Lauren married Andrew Olson of O’Fallon, IL, and they moved to Rochester, NY. In Rochester, she completed her residency at the Eastman Dental Center Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital.

After their time in Rochester, she and Andrew decided to move back to his hometown to settle down and start a family. Dr. Lauren practiced in the metro-east area for many years before deciding to join Dr. Satrom in 2013 and went on to purchase his practice. Dr. Satrom is a retired colonel from the Air Force and practiced in O’Fallon from 1999 to his retirement in 2013.

ORTHODONTIST IN O’FALLON
Dr. Lauren resides in O’Fallon with her husband and two children: a daughter, Avalinn, and a son, Watkin. When she is not working, she loves spending time with her family and being active in her church and community. She enjoys running, yoga, crafting, and photography. Any chance they get, she and Andrew enjoy cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Blues. Dr. Lauren is also a volunteer for the children’s program at her church. In addition, she is an active member of the chamber of commerce for O’Fallon and Shiloh.

In the future, Dr. Lauren and her family look forward to all the opportunities and experiences that allow them to become even more active in the O’Fallon community.

I am the laboratory technician here at Olson Orthodontics. I am responsible for the fabrication of all the orthodontic appliances. I received my laboratory training and all advanced training while in the Air Force. I started working here in April of 2002 after retiring from the Air Force, upon 26 years of service, with a cumulative of 36 years of experience in the Dental Laboratory career field. I enjoy working at Olson Orthodontics because I have the opportunity to work one on one with the doctors and the patients. Should a question or concern over an appliance arise, I can speak to the dentist directly. This also allows appliances to be created much faster and delivered to the patients quicker.

My passion for orthodontics was ignited by my personal journey and that of my two children who were patients of Dr Olson. Her compassion and caring demeanor won our hearts.
